A driver in Jieyang, Guangdong, narrowly avoided a serious accident after his car’s bonnet suddenly flew open while he was driving on a highway, blocking his view.
According to the driver, identified only by his surname Zhan, the incident happened a day after he had his vehicle’s air-conditioning refrigerant replaced.
He believes the bonnet may not have been properly secured following the repair. As he entered the highway the next day, the bonnet suddenly flipped open, startling everyone inside the vehicle.
Despite the frightening situation, Zhan remained calm and safely steered the car to the roadside, preventing what could have been a major accident.
He said traffic was relatively light at the time, and he was travelling at a moderate speed, which helped him bring the vehicle under control safely.
The car has since been sent for inspection, with technicians working to determine the exact cause of the incident.
