Thailand Urges Malaysians To Use Legal Border Crossings Only

Date:

The Thai army has reassured Malaysians travelling to southern Thailand that safety remains a top priority, while urging travellers from both countries to use only authorised border entry points.

Senior Expert of the Royal Thai Army and Chief of the Neighbouring Countries Coordination Centre, General Surathep Nukaeow, said the military fully supports joint efforts by Malaysia and Thailand to strengthen border security and curb illegal cross-border activities.

He said both nations share common objectives in ensuring the border remains safe, stable and well-regulated.

Surathep noted that cooperation between the two countries remains strong, including through regular Regional Border Committee meetings and other coordination platforms.

He stressed that there is no need for illegal crossings, as proper and legal routes have already been established for the movement of people and goods.

“For the safety of everyone, we encourage Malaysians and Thais to use only legal routes and comply with the laws and regulations of both countries,” he said during a visit to an illegal jetty.

He also assured that Malaysian tourists visiting Thailand would continue to be safe, with Thai authorities committed to maintaining security along the shared border.

The Thai military said ongoing measures are aimed at improving safety and protecting border communities, while encouraging greater understanding of enforcement efforts on both sides.
