Three Tourists Vomit And Suffer Diarrhoea After Eating Wild Mushrooms Hotpot Meal

Date:

Three tourists reportedly experienced nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea after dining at a wild mushroom hotpot restaurant in Dali, China.

The incident was brought to the attention of local media on August 18 after the group claimed they had eaten a white onion mushroom dish recommended by the restaurant.

According to the tourists, all three began experiencing gastrointestinal symptoms one after another after the meal, with two of them seeking medical treatment.

One of the patients was reportedly diagnosed with suspected poisonous mushroom poisoning and gastroenteritis, according to the medical record provided by the tourist.

The group subsequently sought compensation from the restaurant, including medical expenses, transport costs, losses related to their travel plans and the cost of the meal. However, negotiations between both sides reportedly failed to reach an agreement.

The restaurant’s person in charge confirmed that the tourists had dined there but said some of their compensation demands were excessive. The restaurant reportedly indicated that it was willing to cooperate with its food safety insurance provider to arrange reasonable compensation.

Following the incident, market regulators and disease control authorities have become involved and are investigating the case.

The actual cause of the tourists’ illness has yet to be officially determined, with authorities expected to establish whether the mushrooms or other factors were responsible.
