An argument over a television remote control at a coffee shop turned deadly when a 26-year-old man was allegedly stabbed six times in Medan Tuntungan, Indonesia.
The incident began at around 9.30pm on Sunday when JT got into an argument with 46-year-old HS at a coffee shop in Simpang Selayang.
Medan Tuntungan Police chief Iptu Aidil Ginting said JT had asked HS for the remote control because he wanted to change the television channel.
However, HS allegedly refused to hand it over and hurled vulgarities at JT.
Feeling insulted, JT returned home and called his son, NT. NT then arrived with his 26-year-old friend, LT.
The trio later went looking for HS and found him at another coffee shop at around 11.45pm.
According to police, JT, NT and LT then assaulted HS over the earlier argument.
Feeling threatened as he faced the three men, HS allegedly pulled a knife from his waistband.
He then stabbed LT, who was NT’s friend.
LT attempted to flee but fell on the road. HS allegedly chased after him and stabbed him several more times, leaving the victim with a total of six stab wounds.
NT rushed LT to Dr Adam Malik General Hospital in an attempt to save his friend, but he was pronounced dead.
Police subsequently launched a search for HS before arresting him on Jalan Letjen Jamin Ginting at around 10.30am on Tuesday.
Police said HS admitted to stabbing LT with a knife and has since been detained to assist with further investigations.
