A 61-year-old woman in Indonesia has been accused of murdering her husband in a shocking case that police believe was driven by her desire to marry someone else.
The victim, identified as 67-year-old EMS, was found dead inside a bedroom at his home in Arcawinangun, East Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, on Saturday. His wife, identified only as Y, has since been named as the prime suspect in the case.
Banyumas Police Chief Senior Commissioner Petrus P. Silalahi said the investigation began after members of the public raised suspicions over the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. Further inquiries, supported by physical evidence and witness statements, led investigators to conclude that the killing was a premeditated murder.
Police said the victim was discovered lying on his bed with visible bruising to his head and blood coming from one of his ears, suggesting he had suffered serious injuries before his death.
Investigators also revealed that the suspect initially claimed her husband’s motorcycle had been stolen before he died. However, police now believe the story was fabricated in an attempt to mislead investigators and cover up the alleged crime.
Authorities have seized several pieces of evidence, including a wooden stick, a knife and closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, as part of the ongoing investigation. Police are also looking into whether anyone else may have been involved, while continuing to establish the full motive and sequence of events leading to the victim’s death.
