The Malaysian Embassy in Kathmandu has received reports from travel agencies that they have lost contact with 11 Malaysian nationals believed to be in Nepal’s Rasuwa district following severe flooding in the area.
Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry, also known as Wisma Putra, said the loss of communication was believed to have been caused by severe disruptions to telecommunications networks and electricity supplies following the disaster.
“The Embassy is actively coordinating with local authorities and search and rescue teams currently being deployed by the Nepalese government to locate the affected Malaysian nationals and ensure their safety,” the ministry said in a media notification on Wednesday.
Wisma Putra advised Malaysians living in or travelling through Nepal, particularly those near affected areas, to remain vigilant, prioritise their safety and comply fully with safety instructions issued by local authorities.
The ministry also urged Malaysians in Nepal to register and regularly update their contact details through the e-Konsular portal. This would allow the authorities to reach them more effectively during emergencies or natural disasters.

Wisma Putra said it would continue to closely monitor the situation and provide further updates once verified information regarding the affected Malaysians becomes available.
