12-Year-Old Girl Attacked with Hammer in Johor Bahru; Suspect Arrested and Remanded

Date:

A 39-year-old man has been remanded for seven days until August 2 for allegedly attacking a 12-year-old girl with a metal hammer at a flat in Taman Ungku Tun Aminah, Johor Bahru.

Johor Bahru Utara police chief Balveer Singh said the suspect was arrested at his home around 7:25 pm on July 26, just hours after the girl’s father filed a police report. Investigations revealed the suspect has a criminal record involving multiple offenses, including drug-related crimes. A urine test also showed he tested positive for methamphetamine, Balveer added. The victim was taken to Sultanah Aminah Hospital with a scalp laceration and swelling on her right hand and is currently in stable condition.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon. The incident came to light after CCTV footage circulated showing the girl running into a lift with a bleeding head.
