13 Men Nabbed Within 12 Hours After Armed Brawl In Jinjang Utara

A total of 13 local men were arrested after allegedly being involved in a violent riot and group fight involving armed individuals at a business premises in Jinjang Utara, here, yesterday.

Authorities acted swiftly following an emergency call received by the District Control Centre (DCC) of the Sentul District Police Headquarters at 3.27pm via the MERS 999 hotline, alerting them to the serious public disturbance.

Police investigations revealed that the confrontation is believed to have stemmed from a dispute over debt matters, which escalated rapidly into a large-scale fight involving weapons and resulting in injuries to victims at the scene.

Such incidents highlight the growing concern over disputes turning violent in public spaces, prompting authorities to maintain heightened vigilance in urban commercial areas.

Acting on intelligence and coordinated operations, police teams managed to track down and detain all 13 suspects within 12 hours of the incident through multiple raids conducted around the Klang Valley.

Authorities confirmed that the suspects, aged between 18 and 51, were arrested with cooperation between the Sentul District Criminal Investigation Division and the Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department.

The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting with weapons and Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt using dangerous weapons or means.

Police also revealed that several of the suspects have prior criminal and drug-related records, underscoring ongoing challenges in tackling repeat offenders within organised group violence cases.

Law enforcement agencies continue to emphasise that public safety remains a top priority, with strict action taken against any form of violence that threatens community harmony.

Members of the public are advised to avoid speculation regarding the case and to allow authorities to carry out thorough investigations in accordance with legal procedures.

The police have also urged witnesses or individuals with relevant information to come forward and assist investigations, as community cooperation plays a crucial role in preventing similar incidents in the future.
