17-Year-Old Killed In Kampar Motorcycle Crash While Evading Police

Date:

A 17-year-old boy was killed after his motorcycle crashed while riding against traffic in an attempt to evade police in Kampar.

The incident occurred along Jalan Pasar at around 10.08pm yesterday, according to Kampar district police chief Supt Mohamad Nazri Daud.

Mohamad Nazri explained that the victim and four friends, all riding motorcycles, fled after spotting a Motorcycle Patrol Unit (URB). “The victim rode against traffic along Jalan Pasar and hit a speed bump near the pork market, losing control before crashing into a metal staircase railing near a drain,” he said.

The teen suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigations revealed that the group fled because they were riding without licences and using modified motorcycles. The case has been classified under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
