18-Year-Old Dies in Motorcycle Accident

Date:

Tragedy struck in the early hours of the morning when an 18-year-old student was killed after losing control of his motorcycle along Jalan Sultan Mahmud.

District police chief ACP Azli Mohd Noor said the fatal crash was reported at around 2.25am. The victim, identified as Muhammad Syazwan Haniff Abdul Halim from Batu Buruk, had been riding a Yamaha 135LC and was on his way home from a restaurant in the area.

“Initial investigations suggest the motorcycle was moving straight when the rider suddenly lost control and crashed, falling to the right side of the road,” Azli said.

Syazwan was pronounced dead at the scene. His remains have been sent to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital’s forensic unit for post-mortem.

Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
