2,000 Vape Devices Worth RM160,000 Seized At Tumpat Border

Date:

A total of 2,000 disposable electronic cigarette or vape devices worth RM160,000 were seized by the General Operations Force (PGA) along the Golok River near the Pulau Ular Bridge in Tumpat, Kelantan, yesterday.

Southeastern Brigade PGA commander Senior Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Radzi Hussain said the seizure was made during a motorcycle patrol when officers spotted several men unloading boxes at the riverbank.

He said the men fled towards the neighbouring country by boat after PGA personnel moved in to approach them, leaving several boxes behind at the location.

“An inspection of the boxes found 2,000 units of vape devices,” he said in a statement today.

The operation highlights the continued efforts by enforcement agencies to curb the movement of controlled smoking products through unofficial routes, particularly along the Malaysia-Thailand border.

Ahmad Radzi said the seized items were subsequently referred to the Tumpat District Health Office for further action.

The case is being investigated under Section 10 of the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Act 2024 (Act 852).

Authorities continue to monitor border areas closely to prevent smuggling activities and ensure compliance with laws governing tobacco and vape-related products.
