A 49-year-old patient weighing around 250kg required special assistance from the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Kota Bharu to return home to Kampung Chiku 3, Gua Musang after being discharged from Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II (HRPZ II).
Kota Bharu District Civil Defence Officer Major (PA) Mohd Arif Mohd Zin said the special operation was carried out to assist the Health Ministry and the patient’s family with the transfer from the hospital to the patient’s residence.
He said the patient’s weight made the transportation process more challenging and required additional manpower and careful planning to ensure the transfer could be carried out safely.
The operation involved nine APM personnel, including an officer, with assistance from residents in the local community.
“We assisted in facilitating the management and transfer of the patient from HRPZ II to the patient’s home in Kampung Chiku 3, Gua Musang.
“The cooperation of local residents also helped APM personnel during the process of lifting and transferring the patient,” he said when contacted on Sunday.
Mohd Arif said the special assistance was provided to ensure the entire transfer process was conducted in an organised, safe and smooth manner.
The operation required close cooperation between APM personnel, medical authorities, the patient’s family and local residents, particularly during the physical transfer of the patient.
Mohd Arif also expressed his appreciation to members of the local community for their cooperation and assistance throughout the operation.
He said APM would continue supporting government agencies and communities through humanitarian assistance, with its personnel committed to carrying out such duties efficiently, swiftly and effectively.
