Banting School Stabbing: Victim Was Stabbed Up To 16 Times, Father Says

Date:

A 15-year-old schoolgirl who was injured in a stabbing incident at a secondary school in Banting was allegedly stabbed up to 16 times by a fellow student using a knife.

The victim’s father, Mohd Firuz Ibrahim, 43, said most of the stab wounds were inflicted on his daughter’s back, with one of the injuries causing serious damage to her left lung.

Mohd Firuz said he learned about the incident after receiving a phone call from his daughter’s teacher at about 9.30am.

The 43-year-old, who works as a lorry driver for a delivery company, immediately rushed to Hospital Banting.

“When I arrived, my daughter was in a serious condition. I was informed that she had suffered between 14 and 16 stab wounds to her back and face. Her left lung was injured, and doctors have inserted a tube to drain the blood.

“She is conscious and able to speak,” he told reporters outside the hospital’s emergency ward.

Mohd Firuz said his daughter, the second of three siblings, knew the suspect and had been in the same class with the 15-year-old during Form Two.

He added that he was informed the suspect had been placed on leave from school to undergo personal medical treatment.

“I don’t know whether the suspect held any grudge against my daughter.

“I don’t think my daughter was the intended target. I believe she was attacked because she happened to be near the suspect. She had never complained about being harassed by the suspect before,” he said.

Commenting on school safety, Mohd Firuz urged the school to strengthen its security measures to prevent similar incidents from happening again, saying he was deeply saddened by what had happened to his daughter.
