Burglary Attempt Foiled After Home Alarm Alerts Resident In Ampang

Date:

A suspected burglar’s attempt to break into a house in Taman Melawati, Ampang, was thwarted after the home’s alarm system alerted the occupants, causing the suspect to flee empty-handed.

Ampang Jaya Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Khairul Anuar Khalid said the incident occurred at around 11.30am on Tuesday.

One of the residents, who was upstairs at the time, heard the alarm and went downstairs to investigate.

The resident discovered an unknown man attempting to force open a padlock on a side door of the house.

The suspect fled the scene after the homeowner shouted for help.

Police reviewed CCTV footage, which showed the suspect wearing a blue hoodie and a face mask during the attempted break-in.

Investigators believe the man entered the property by climbing over the perimeter fence before escaping in a purple Perodua Myvi fitted with fake registration plates.

Police also confirmed they are reviewing footage of the incident that has since gone viral on Threads as part of ongoing efforts to identify and arrest the suspect.

The case is being investigated under Section 448 of the Penal Code for trespassing.
