Conjoined twin Muhammad Rosli has died at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM, aged 28.
His death was confirmed by his twin brother, Ahmad, who said Muhammad passed away at about 10.45am today after being admitted to the hospital on Sunday.
Ahmad said his brother had initially complained of feeling unwell before his condition deteriorated, with his oxygen level beginning to fall at around 6am.
“His remains are still at the hospital. His oxygen reading began to drop at about 6am today,” he said when contacted.
Ahmad added that he was unable to provide details regarding the burial arrangements as the family was still making arrangements to bring Muhammad’s remains home.
Muhammad had previously battled bladder cancer and received treatment at King Fahd National Guard Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, after being diagnosed with the disease last year.
During an eight-month stay there, he underwent five surgeries and five rounds of chemotherapy before doctors declared him recovered. He subsequently continued with follow-up treatment.
Muhammad and Ahmad had been in the public eye since 2001, when they underwent a liver separation procedure at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre.
The brothers were later successfully separated in September 2002 following a lengthy 22-hour-and-45-minute operation at King Fahd National Guard Hospital in Saudi Arabia.
Muhammad’s passing marks the end of a remarkable medical journey that had seen the brothers undergo several major procedures from childhood and overcome significant health challenges together.
