Coordinated Johor Raids Lead to Arrest of Undocumented Migrants, Brothel Operators

Date:

Johor Immigration enforcement teams carried out a series of coordinated raids across the city yesterday, resulting in the arrest of 29 undocumented foreigners at commercial hotspots, construction sites, and premises reportedly used for illegal activities.

The operations were based on public tip-offs and intelligence collected by the department’s enforcement unit. Investigators discovered that some hotels had converted rooms into brothels charging RM260 per customer.

Johor Immigration director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus confirmed the detainees included two Myanmar men, 13 Indonesian men, eight Indonesian women, four Laotian women, and two Myanmar women, aged between 22 and 52.

“They are suspected of committing offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Immigration Regulations 1963. They have been placed at the Setia Tropika Immigration Depot for further investigation,” he said.

Two notices were also issued to local witnesses to assist with the ongoing probe.

Rusdi stressed that enforcement actions against violators will continue. “We will not compromise with employers, premise owners, or individuals who harbour or employ undocumented migrants. Enforcement will be strengthened to ensure that those who break the law are held accountable,” he said.
