Cops Investigate Forgery Claim Linked To Delayed Burial Case

Date:

Police have launched a criminal investigation into an alleged case of signature forgery linked to the delayed burial of a deceased individual at the Ukay Perdana Muslim Cemetery in Hulu Kelang.

Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said an investigation paper has been opened under Section 468 of the Penal Code, which covers forgery intended for cheating.

He confirmed that the case is being examined following allegations involving a falsified signature used in relation to burial arrangements for the deceased.

The development comes after Ampang Jaya police confirmed receiving a report from the family of the deceased regarding delays in the burial process, which had gone viral on social media.

Ampang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Khairul Anuar Khalid said the report was lodged by the next of kin and that investigations are currently ongoing.

Earlier, the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) clarified that the delay was not caused by the mosque, but rather due to confusion over burial arrangements involving a welfare body.

JAIS also denied allegations that the mosque had demanded RM1,400 before the burial could proceed, calling the claims inaccurate.

According to JAIS, the burial process was initially managed after the necessary documentation was issued, but complications arose when different parties were said to be involved in handling the arrangements.
