A dashcam recording of a Toyota Hilux allegedly reversing into four parked vehicles at the Sultan Ismail Hospital (HSI) car park here yesterday has gone viral on social media.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 1.28pm and was captured by the dashboard camera of a vehicle near the scene.
The footage showed the Hilux moving backwards before crashing into four vehicles parked in the area.
The recording was shared on Threads by user @remyrohaizadraya, who posted it as evidence of what had happened and expressed sympathy towards the affected vehicle owners.
One of the owners, @marliamusaa_, later responded to the post, claiming that her vehicle was among those damaged in the incident.
She also alleged that the Hilux driver was a Singaporean citizen and claimed the driver was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
The allegations have not been independently verified.
The incident sparked concern among social media users, with several describing crashes allegedly involving drunk drivers as particularly frightening because innocent motorists can be affected despite doing nothing wrong.
One user, @shahirahramlee, said motorists could become victims even when they were following the rules and driving normally.
“The most frightening thing is when we have done nothing wrong but another vehicle causes the problem. I hate drunk-driving cases. May God protect us every time we drive,” she wrote.
Another user, @azamzalid, praised the driver of a Proton Iswara seen in the footage for reacting quickly and attempting to avoid being hit.
The user said the Iswara driver appeared to remain alert and managed to shift into reverse despite the sudden situation.
The viral recording has since prompted renewed discussion among netizens about road safety and the importance of staying alert behind the wheel, particularly in busy areas such as hospital car parks.
