Early Morning Blaze Leaves Six Families Displaced In Sarawak

A total of 44 people from six families were left homeless after a fire destroyed several houses at Tabuan Hilir in the early hours of the morning.

Firefighters from Tabuan Jaya, Padungan and Batu Lintang fire stations were rushed to the scene after an emergency call was received at about 3.41am.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department said the blaze involved seven houses, with six completely destroyed while one suffered minor damage. Three motorcycles were also reported to have been burnt in the incident.

All 44 victims, comprising 20 men, 15 women and nine children, were displaced as a result of the fire. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control at 4.44am before the operation was fully concluded at 7.08am.

Authorities are continuing investigations to determine the cause of the fire, while affected families are expected to receive assistance from relevant agencies.
