Elderly Man Faces Five Counts Of Sexual Assault In Bachok Court Case

Date:

A 79-year-old man has been charged at the Sessions Court here today with five counts involving rape and sexual assault against his 12-year-old granddaughter in Bachok, Kelantan, between January and June this year.

The accused pleaded not guilty after all charges were read before Judge Zulkifli Abllah during proceedings held at the court.

According to the charge sheet, the elderly man is alleged to have committed rape against the minor on four separate occasions without her consent at a bedroom in a house in Kampung Panchor Gunong Timor, Bachok.

The alleged offences are said to have taken place between January 11 and June 4, 2026, during multiple incidents over the stated period.

He is charged under Section 376(2)(d) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of up to 30 years’ imprisonment and whipping upon conviction.

In a separate charge, the accused is alleged to have committed penetrative sexual assault involving an object against the same victim at the same location on Jan 11 at about 1.30pm.

This offence falls under Section 377CA of the Penal Code, which also provides for imprisonment of up to 30 years and whipping if found guilty.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Syafiqah Mohamad led the prosecution, while the accused was not represented by legal counsel.

The prosecution did not propose bail, citing the seriousness of the case and concerns over the safety of the minor involved.

The court subsequently denied bail and ordered the accused to remain in custody pending further proceedings.

The case has been fixed for mention and document submission on July 19.
