BYD Seal Crashes Into Bezza, Triggering Six-Vehicle Collision That Kills Five-Year-Old Girl

Date:

A five-year-old girl died after the car she was travelling in with her father was involved in a six-vehicle accident along Jalan Kuching in Kuala Lumpur two days ago.

The crash occurred at about 3.44pm, leaving the girl with severe head injuries. She was later pronounced dead at Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL).

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said preliminary investigations found that traffic was moving slowly when the accident occurred.

“The Perodua Bezza driven by a 30-year-old man was hit from behind by a BYD Seal, triggering a collision that also involved a motorcycle.

“The Bezza then spun into the right lane and collided with three other vehicles — a Nissan Almera, a Toyota Alphard and a Perodua Myvi,” he said in a statement.

The Bezza driver sustained cuts to his right hand, while the 33-year-old rider of a Yamaha 135LC motorcycle suffered head injuries. Both were receiving treatment at HKL.

The drivers of the Nissan Almera, aged 28, and Toyota Alphard, aged 37, as well as the 30-year-old woman who owned the Perodua Myvi, escaped without injuries.

Mohd Zamzuri said the 24-year-old driver of the BYD Seal, who left the scene after the accident, was subsequently traced by police.

The driver is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Damansara for a concussion and remains under the supervision of investigating officers.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Anyone with information about the incident or who witnessed the crash is urged to contact the Tun H.S. Lee Traffic Police Station at 03-2071 9999 or visit the nearest police station to assist with investigations.
