Around 90,000 Form Six students are expected to begin receiving a RM2,500 living allowance in the first semester of next year, following its announcement in Budget 2027.
Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek said the assistance would be distributed in stages over the three semesters of study.
She said payments would begin once the student registration process was completed, allowing eligible students to receive the money as soon as possible.
“As soon as the registration of Form Six students is complete, we will deliver the assistance immediately,” she said.
“God willing, next year in the first semester they will start receiving the allowance,” she told reporters after the closing ceremony of the My Country Tour: I Love Malaysia at Taman Widuri today.
Fadhlina, who is also the Nibong Tebal MP, said the initiative was among the government’s measures to ease students’ financial needs while pursuing their Form Six studies.
She added that the assistance reflected the government’s commitment to supporting students and improving the quality of the Malaysian Higher School Certificate (STPM).
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim previously announced the RM2,500 living allowance for Form Six students when presenting Budget 2027. The assistance is expected to benefit approximately 90,000 students, with the rate matching the allowance provided to matriculation students.
