Former UiTM Holdings CEO Claims Trial Over RM37.37 Million Criminal Breach Of Trust Charge

A former chief executive officer of UiTM Holdings Sdn Bhd has claimed trial at the Sessions Court here to a charge of criminal breach of trust involving RM37.37 million dating back nine years.

Azlizan Fadzil, 53, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read before Sessions Court Judge Datuk Mohd Nasir Nordin on Thursday. He arrived at the court in a wheelchair.

According to the charge, Azlizan, who was the CEO of UiTM Holdings Sdn Bhd (UHSB) at the time, had been entrusted with RM37,374,612.68 allocated for the development of a 50-megawatt (MW) large-scale solar photovoltaic power generation project in Gambang, Pahang.

He was accused of dishonestly misappropriating the funds through various payments for purposes other than those for which the money had been entrusted.

The alleged offence took place at Affin Bank Berhad’s UiTM Shah Alam branch at Menara Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah between February 2 and October 2, 2017.

Azlizan was charged under Section 409 of the Penal Code, which carries a prison sentence of between two and 20 years, whipping and a fine upon conviction.
