Four people were killed after a Proton Saga collided with a lorry along Jalan Telupid-Sandakan on Wednesday morning.
The identities of all four victims have yet to be confirmed.
Beluran Fire and Rescue Station chief Nur Azlan Shah Jamaluddin said the department received an emergency call at about 7.30am and dispatched seven personnel to the crash site, located 93km from the station.
He said firefighters, assisted by police and the Civil Defence Force (APM), extricated all four victims from the Proton Saga.
“All four victims were confirmed dead at the scene by medical personnel.
“The lorry driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to Telupid Health Clinic for treatment,” he said when contacted.
Nur Azlan said there was no telephone coverage at the crash site, making it difficult to obtain further information about the victims.
He added that all four bodies were handed over to police for further action.
The operation was concluded after rescuers ensured there were no other hazards at the scene.
