Four areas in Sarawak recorded unhealthy air quality as of 9am today, with the Serian District Police Headquarters (IPD Serian) recording the highest Air Pollutant Index (API) reading at 178.
According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), three other areas in the state also recorded unhealthy readings.
They were Kuching at 166, Samarahan at 165 and Sri Aman at 163.
Meanwhile, 61 areas nationwide recorded moderate air quality, including Batu Muda in Kuala Lumpur at 73, Kota Kinabalu in Sabah at 63, Balik Pulau in Penang at 55 and Kangar in Perlis at 52.
Another three areas recorded good air quality.
Under the API classification, readings of 0 to 50 indicate good air quality, while 51 to 100 is classified as moderate.
Readings between 101 and 200 are considered unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, while readings above 300 are classified as hazardous.
