Three individuals, including an activist, have been arrested to assist in investigations into an alleged temple vandalism case involving four smashed statues at a temple along Jalan Klang Lama, Kuala Lumpur, on Oct 6.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said police received two reports concerning the incident.
He said all three suspects were arrested in Beranang, Selangor, at about 11am on Sunday.
The suspects were remanded for three days to assist in the investigation but were reportedly released on police bail on Tuesday.
Fadil said the total losses from the incident were still being assessed.
The investigation papers have been referred to the state prosecution office for further action, he added.
The case is being investigated under Section 295 of the Penal Code for destroying or defiling a place of worship with the intention of insulting the religion of any class of people.
