The retail prices of RON97, unsubsidised RON95 and unsubsidised diesel will each increase by 5 sen per litre from August 27 to September 2.
The Ministry of Finance (MOF) announced that RON97 will rise from RM4.25 to RM4.30 per litre, while unsubsidised RON95 will increase from RM3.77 to RM3.82 per litre.
Unsubsidised diesel will also see a 5-sen increase, moving from RM4.67 to RM4.72 per litre for the same period.
However, subsidised fuel prices under the targeted subsidy programmes will remain unchanged. RON95 under BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) will continue to be sold at RM1.99 per litre, while diesel under BUDI MADANI Diesel (BUDI Diesel) remains at RM2.10 per litre.
Prices under the Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS) and Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) will also remain at RM2.05 and RM2.15 per litre respectively.
According to MOF, the government is currently absorbing RM1.83 in subsidy for every litre of RON95 purchased by eligible BUDI95 users. This represents about 48 per cent of the fuel’s unsubsidised cost, while BUDI Diesel users receive a subsidy of RM2.62 per litre, equivalent to 56 per cent of the unsubsidised diesel price.
The ministry said ongoing traffic restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz continued to put pressure on global oil supplies.
It added that after 179 days of conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran, around 290 million of the 400 million barrels of oil agreed to be released from emergency reserves by International Energy Agency (IEA) member countries had entered the market as of July 2026.
MOF also pointed to disruptions affecting refining capacity in West Asia and Russia, saying these had further reduced the supply of refined petroleum products and placed greater pressure on diesel prices compared with petrol.
The Madani Government, meanwhile, assured Malaysians and businesses that it would continue efforts to shield them from the impact of global instability, including by maintaining targeted fuel subsidies for eligible consumers.
