Serian in Sarawak recorded a “very unhealthy” Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 244 as of 1pm today, according to the latest data.
Data from the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) showed that eight other areas in Sarawak also recorded “unhealthy” air quality levels.
Sri Aman recorded an API reading of 188, followed by Kuching at 177, Samarahan (176), Sarikei (175) and Sibu (157).
Other areas with unhealthy readings included Bintulu at 154, Samalaju (152) and Kapit (132).
Meanwhile, 57 areas nationwide recorded moderate air quality, with readings ranging between 51 and 100.
Another eight areas recorded good air quality, with API readings ranging from zero to 50.
