He Was Singing Karaoke When a Machete-Wielding Thug Slashed Him

Date:

A shocking machete attack left pubgoers in disbelief after a man was brutally assaulted inside Bells Bar in Springburn, Glasgow, on Friday night.

CCTV footage captured the horrifying moment a thug, dressed in a grey hoodie and hat, walked into the busy pub while customers were enjoying karaoke. The attacker pushed past punters before pulling out a foot-long blade and targeting a 39-year-old man sitting at a table.

The victim was struck multiple times as blood splattered across the wall, with witnesses describing the sounds of the blows as “horrific.” Despite the chaos, many customers continued singing along to John Denver’s Take Me Home, Country Roads, unaware of the violent scene unfolding behind them.

The injured man desperately tried to shield himself before scrambling onto a seating area to escape the frenzied assault. Nearby punters raised their hands in panic as the attacker fled the bar with the weapon still in hand.

A witness told the Daily Record: “Everyone was having a nice wee night out, then suddenly this maniac stormed in with a machete. The sound of the blade hitting him was sickening. It’s terrifying that the attacker is still out there.”

Emergency services rushed to the scene around 11pm. The victim was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, where he remains with serious injuries.

Police Scotland confirmed they have launched an investigation. A spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a report of a serious assault within licensed premises on Springburn Way. Enquiries are ongoing, and officers remain in the area. Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101, quoting incident 4197 of Friday, 26 September.”
