How To Find Out If You Have Unclaimed EPF, Insurance Or Bank Funds In Malaysia

Date:

Thousands of Malaysians may have unclaimed money waiting to be collected without even knowing it.

These funds can originate from a variety of sources, including dormant bank accounts, insurance or takaful benefits, EPF-related savings, unpaid salaries, investment dividends, fixed deposits and other payments that were never claimed.

The good news is that checking for unclaimed money is quick and can be done through official government digital platforms.

Download MyDigital ID And MyGOV

The first step is to install the MyDigital ID and MyGOV Malaysia applications from your smartphone’s app store.

Once downloaded, create and verify your MyDigital ID account before signing in to the MyGOV app.

Check For Unclaimed Funds

After logging into MyGOV, use the search feature and enter “Wang Tak Dituntut”.

Key in your MyKad number to see whether any unclaimed funds are registered under your name.

If eligible funds are found, the system will redirect you to the government’s eGUMIS portal, where you can begin the claims process.

Types Of Unclaimed Money

You may be able to claim funds from:

  • Dormant or inactive bank accounts
  • Insurance or takaful benefits
  • Eligible EPF savings transferred to the Unclaimed Money Management Division
  • Unclaimed salaries or wages
  • Investment profits or dividends
  • Matured fixed deposits
  • Other uncollected payments

EPF Savings May Also Be Affected

Some EPF members may also have eligible savings that have been transferred to the Unclaimed Money Management Division after remaining unclaimed for an extended period, subject to the provisions of the EPF Act.

Access More Government Services

In addition to checking for unclaimed money, the MyGOV app provides access to a range of digital government services, including traffic summons checks, financial assistance information, examination results and other public services, making it a convenient one-stop platform for Malaysians.
