Immigration Department Detains 93 Illegal Immigrants In Ops Kutip

The Kuala Lumpur Immigration Department detained 93 illegal immigrants during Ops Kutip conducted in Danau Kota and Pekeliling on Tuesday.

The integrated enforcement operation was carried out following complaints and information from members of the public regarding the increasing presence of foreign nationals at both locations.

According to the Immigration Department in a statement on Wednesday, the first raid at Danau Kota involved inspections on 105 foreign nationals, resulting in the arrest of 40 individuals suspected of committing various offences under immigration laws.

The operation was later continued in Pekeliling, where another 93 foreign nationals were screened, leading to the detention of 53 individuals.

“Overall, the operation involved inspections on 198 foreign nationals, with 93 illegal immigrants detained for allegedly committing various immigration offences,” the department said.

All those detained have been taken to the Immigration Detention Depot for documentation, investigation and further action.

The cases are being investigated under Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for overstaying after the expiry of their permits, as well as Section 6(1)(c) of the same Act for failing to possess valid passes or travel documents.

The Immigration Department also expressed appreciation to the public for providing information that assisted in the success of the operation.

It stressed that no compromise would be given to any individuals or parties involved in protecting illegal immigrants, adding that enforcement operations would continue to be intensified to safeguard the security and sovereignty of Kuala Lumpur.
