The father of Form Four student Irene Sofiya Mohd Khairool Faisal, who died in an incident believed to be murder at a school in Yong Peng, Johor, hopes justice will be served for his daughter.
Mohd Khairool Faisal Khyar, 42, said the family had placed its full trust in the police and relevant authorities to investigate the case and ensure those responsible were brought to justice.
“We thank everyone who came, and we hope justice can be served for my late daughter,” he said after Irene Sofiya’s burial at the Kampung Arshad Muslim Cemetery in Yong Peng on Sunday.
Mohd Khairool Faisal said he only learned about the incident at around 6pm on Saturday, after his eldest sister, Siti Nur Faeza Khyar, 45, contacted him to inform him that Irene Sofiya had been found in critical condition before being pronounced dead.
“At that time, I was working in Bangi before rushing back to the village to find out more,” he said.
He said the last time he saw Irene Sofiya, who was affectionately known as Fiya, was about two weeks ago.
He recalled that there had been no noticeable change in his daughter’s behaviour, describing her as cheerful and happy to be studying.
Mohd Khairool Faisal also urged members of the public not to spread inaccurate speculation about the incident involving his daughter.
The case remains under investigation by the authorities.
