JIM Finds No Immigration Offence Among 266 Foreigners Inspected

Date:

A total of 256 out of 266 foreigners from 40 countries inspected in connection with the Network School operation at Forest City, Johor, were found to be holding Social Visit Passes, while the remaining 10 were holders of Professional Visit Passes for digital nomads (PLIK).

Immigration Department director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said checks on the 10 PLIK (Nomad) holders showed that four were from the United States, three from Russia, two from Australia and one from India.

He said the foreigners inspected comprised 179 men and 87 women, with the department continuing investigations into allegations linked to the Network School programme.

“JIM will continue its investigation and share the findings with other relevant agencies,” he said when contacted on Friday.

Zakaria previously said claims that Israeli citizens had participated in the Network School programme at Forest City using second-country passports could not be verified as no evidence had been found so far.

He added that investigations by the relevant authorities were still ongoing to obtain a clearer picture before any further action is taken.

The PLIK (Nomad) pass is issued by the Immigration Department to digital professionals who work remotely while staying in Malaysia.

Earlier on Tuesday, JIM conducted inspections on 266 foreigners from 40 countries at Forest City following concerns surrounding the Network School operation.

Initial checks found that all individuals inspected possessed valid immigration documents based on current records.

The Home Ministry, through JIM, the Royal Malaysia Police and related agencies, is also conducting a comprehensive review involving the identities and nationalities of those involved, the validity of travel documents, immigration facilities used and the purpose of their entry into Malaysia.
