Kedah MP Arrested Over RM400,000 Bribery Linked to State Feedlot Project

Date:

A member of parliament in Kedah has been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over allegations of accepting a RM400,000 bribe linked to a state-owned cattle feedlot project.

The investigation, which began in February, revolves around claims that the MP received the funds in exchange for facilitating land-use rights for the project. A complaint was filed on February 10, and statements from 15 witnesses have been recorded.

MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed the arrest, stating that the MP’s statement was recorded under Section 53(3) of the MACC Act. The lawmaker has since been released on bail pending further legal proceedings.
