Kedah Policeman Arrested Over Alleged RM15,000 Bribe From Drug Trafficker

Date:

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Kedah has arrested a police officer suspected of soliciting and accepting approximately RM15,000 in bribes from a drug trafficker two years ago.

The officer, believed to be in his 30s, allegedly received the money in exchange for protecting drug distribution activities and preventing law enforcement action in the state.

According to sources, he was arrested at approximately 2pm on Monday when he turned up to give a statement at the Kedah MACC office.

Initial investigations found that the alleged offences took place throughout 2024, with the officer suspected of receiving between RM200 and RM2,500 every month.

The payments were allegedly made through bank transfers into his personal account, the source said.

Kedah MACC director Datuk Nazli Rasyid Sulong confirmed the arrest when contacted, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 16(a)(B) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009.
