The landlord of a house in Taman Impian Indah has revealed that a male tenant repeatedly requested extensions to pay his rent before disappearing, following the discovery of a woman’s body inside a suitcase at the property.
The landlord, who requested anonymity, said he had been trying to collect the overdue rent from the tenant but eventually lost contact with him. The revelation came after police discovered the body of a woman believed to be linked to one of the occupants of the rented house.
According to the landlord, the tenant, described as a man with blonde hair and tattoos, first asked for an extension after claiming he was ill when contacted about the rental payment last month.
“He said he was sick and asked for more time until around May 20. Later, he requested another extension until June 8, but I never received the rent,” the landlord said when met at the scene on Monday.
He added that after learning about the discovery of the body, he attempted to contact the tenant again on Sunday, but all attempts were unsuccessful.
The landlord also disclosed that when the couple first rented the property, they introduced themselves as husband and wife.
“They told me they were married, but I did not ask for further details at the time because of the language barrier,” he said.
Earlier, Kajang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof confirmed that police discovered the body of a woman of unknown ethnicity, with no identification documents, inside the house at about 8.37pm on Sunday.
Police have classified the case as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code and investigations are ongoing to establish the victim’s identity, trace those involved and determine the circumstances surrounding her death.
