A 50-year-old lorry driver was killed after being thrown from his vehicle when it skidded off Jalan Keningau-Kimanis in Sabah on Thursday.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Health Ministry personnel following the incident, which occurred at around 1pm.
Kimanis Fire and Rescue Station chief Nelson Ponji said the station received an emergency call at 1.07pm and dispatched seven firefighters to the scene, about 20km away.
He said the accident involved a three-tonne lorry carrying a load of metal, which had veered off the road.
“The lorry driver was reported to have been thrown out of the vehicle in the crash,” he said in a statement.
Nelson said firefighters did not carry out any rescue operation but were requested by the Royal Malaysia Police to check whether anyone else was involved.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene before his body was handed over to the police for further action.
The operation ended at 2.07pm after firefighters confirmed there were no other hazards at the scene.
