MACC Launches Probe After Video Shows Sabah Leader Receiving Over RM1 Million

Date:

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Azam Baki has ordered an immediate investigation into a video allegedly showing a senior Sabah leader receiving a large sum of money.

The Sabah MACC office has been tasked with probing the claims, which were reportedly made by businessman Albert Tei. Azam confirmed that both individuals involved will be summoned to give their statements.

“I have instructed that both individuals be called to give their statements. MACC will work to conclude this probe as quickly as possible, with the utmost diligence and integrity,” he told Berita Harian.

The video, revealed by Malaysiakini, allegedly shows the senior Sabah leader receiving a payment of more than RM1 million.

Azam urged the public to remain patient and allow MACC to carry out a thorough and professional investigation. He warned that unfounded speculation could disrupt the process and undermine public confidence in the country’s anti-corruption efforts.

“MACC is committed to performing its duties independently, transparently, and in full accordance with the law to ensure that justice is upheld,” he added.
