A 43-year-old unemployed man was arrested after allegedly stabbing his 39-year-old wife to death with a switchblade at their home in Kulim, Kedah, last night.
Kulim district police chief Syamsul Sinring said the incident, believed to have been motivated by jealousy, took place in the master bedroom of the couple’s house.
The couple have a three-year-old child, Harian Metro reported.
Syamsul said the suspect admitted to stabbing his wife 13 times — seven times in the chest, five times in the abdomen and once in the right rib area.
After the alleged attack, the suspect reportedly took a shower before collecting the couple’s child from a babysitter.
He then handed the child to his sister at the Juru rest stop along the North-South Expressway and told her that he had stabbed his wife.
The suspect later surrendered himself at the Lunas police station.
Syamsul said the man had no previous criminal record and tested negative for drugs.
The case is being investigated as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
