Man Burnt To Death In House Fire At Bedong Plantation Area

A man was found burnt to death following a house fire at a plantation area in Taman Lembah Bujang, Bedong, today.

Sungai Petani Fire and Rescue Station chief, Senior Fire Officer II Siti Norafiza Mohd Noh, said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 1.30pm.

Following the alert, a team of firefighters along with engines from the Sungai Petani Fire and Rescue Station, led by Senior Fire Officer II Muhamad Aslan Yusof, rushed to the scene.

The operations commander reported that upon arrival, the fire involved a single-storey Class A house located within a plantation area.

The fire destroyed about 80 percent of the house structure.

Further inspection at 2.13pm found a male victim, aged 44, dead in the bedroom area.

A motorcycle located in the same area was also destroyed in the blaze, although further details about the vehicle were not immediately available.

Siti Norafiza said firefighting operations brought the fire under control at 1.57pm, followed by overhaul work at the scene.

The cause of the fire and total losses are still under investigation by the Fire and Rescue Department’s investigation unit in Kedah.
