Man Dies After RM58,800 Penile Enlargement Procedure

Date:

A male patient at a cosmetic clinic in Taipei spent about NT$400,000 (approximately RM58,800) on a penile enlargement procedure but reportedly suffered a fatal complication. The 45-year-old man underwent the operation on the morning of the 17th. Police said that about three hours after the surgery, he suddenly lost consciousness, stopped breathing and had no heartbeat. Despite being rushed to hospital, he was pronounced dead.

The doctor in charge, surnamed Ting, was seen wearing a helmet and handcuffs, remaining silent with a pale expression as he was escorted into a police vehicle. Preliminary police investigations suggest the patient’s death may have been caused by improper anaesthesia.

Reports indicate that Dr. Ting had previously been involved in multiple medical disputes, including at least three deaths linked to aesthetic procedures. Despite repeated inspections by health authorities, his clinic continued to operate. Police have detained him and will refer the case for investigation under charges of negligent homicide.
