A local man in his 30s was found dead at a hotel in Sunway Mentari here last night, with police suspecting the victim was murdered.
Petaling Jaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Shamsudin Mamat said authorities received information about an unconscious man at the hotel at 11.23pm before a police team was dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, police discovered a male body believed to have died at the location. Initial investigations found injuries on the victim’s body, indicating that the death may have involved physical assault.
Shamsudin said the victim was identified as a Malaysian man believed to be in his 30s. Several items were also seized at the scene to assist with investigations.
A post-mortem examination conducted at the University Malaya Medical Centre yesterday confirmed that the victim died due to “multiple blunt impacts to the body”.
Following the discovery, police arrested two local men aged in their 20s and 30s to assist with investigations. Both suspects were found to have previous criminal records.
The Petaling Jaya Magistrate’s Court has granted a seven-day remand order against the two suspects until July 16 to allow further investigation.
Police said the motive behind the incident is still being investigated, while efforts are ongoing to track down other individuals who may be involved. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
