Man Goes on Knife Rampage After Being Told to Leave Park — Attacks Wrong Security Guard!

Date:

A violent knife attack erupted at Taipei’s Expo Park on Saturday (Oct 5) when a 45-year-old unemployed man, surnamed Chen, allegedly snapped after being told to leave by security guards — only to stab the wrong people in a fit of rage.

Police said Chen had been loitering near the park’s restrooms when security personnel approached and asked him to move along. Enraged by the encounter, Chen left the area but soon returned armed with a utility knife, reportedly seeking “revenge” and to “save face.”

In a case of mistaken identity, Chen targeted and slashed a guard surnamed Lin, believing he was the one who earlier confronted him. Lin suffered a wound on his left arm, while another guard, Luo, was injured while trying to stop the attack.

Paramedics rushed both victims to Mackay Memorial Hospital for treatment, and fortunately, neither sustained life-threatening injuries. Police quickly subdued Chen at the scene, confiscating the weapon.

Chen has been arrested and charged with attempted murder and assault. He was later handed over to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office for further investigation.

Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and handle disputes rationally, stressing that momentary anger can lead to devastating and criminal consequences.
