The National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) has detained 196 individuals, including an elderly wheelchair-bound man, his two sons, and two civil servants, in a major statewide operation conducted across Terengganu since Wednesday.
AADK Enforcement and Security Division Director Mahadzir Elias said the suspects, aged between 19 and 66, were arrested in Dungun, Hulu Terengganu, Besut and Kuala Terengganu.
He said urine screening revealed that 159 individuals tested positive for methamphetamine, 34 for ketum, two for cannabis and one for heroin.
Among those detained was a 66-year-old man in a wheelchair, arrested together with his two sons aged 39 and 30 at a house in Besut.
Mahadzir said all three were found positive for methamphetamine during screening.
He added that the elderly man, who has 13 children, claimed he had been involved in drug use for 36 years.
Authorities said the suspect was still battling addiction despite being wheelchair-bound due to a nerve-related illness and requiring the use of adult diapers.
AADK said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb drug abuse in the state and identify high-risk users through large-scale enforcement and rehabilitation initiatives.
