A 54-year-old man was found dead on a massage chair at his home in Ayer Merbau, Bemban, Melaka, on Saturday.
Jasin district police chief Superintendent Lee Robert said police received a report about the incident at 9.11am before officers were dispatched to the scene to investigate.
The deceased, identified as Gwee Beng Soon, is believed to have been alone at home when the incident occurred, as his wife had been overseas on holiday for a week.
Lee said the case came to light after the man’s 21-year-old son lodged a police report following a call from his mother at around 5am.
The wife had contacted their son to inform him that his father was unresponsive on the massage chair at their home. The son works in Kuala Lumpur as a TikTok agent.
A criminal investigation team was sent to the scene, while the Melaka police contingent headquarters’ forensic team was also notified to assist with the investigation.
Lee said the case had been classified as sudden death, with further investigations underway to determine the cause.
The man’s body was taken to Jasin Hospital for a post-mortem before being released to his family.
