A 21-year-old final-year college student from Melaka was found dead behind a restaurant at Dataran Segar Lukut in Port Dickson on Wednesday morning.
The man was discovered by members of the public lying face down in a pool of blood.
Port Dickson district police chief Superintendent Ahmad Afiq Mohd Adnan said police received an emergency call through the MERS 999 hotline at 6.05am reporting the discovery of a local man’s body.
Preliminary investigations found that the victim was undergoing industrial training at a hotel in the area.
A forensic examination revealed injuries to his face and a fracture in his arm. However, there were no signs of a struggle or defensive injuries.
Police also found that the victim had been staying in a rented room at a three-storey building converted into a hostel near where his body was discovered.
Further checks at his accommodation found no signs of a break-in or disturbance, and none of his valuables or personal documents were reported missing.
Ahmad Afiq said a post-mortem conducted at Port Dickson Hospital at 3pm found that the cause of death was injuries to the head and abdomen.
No criminal elements were detected, and the case has been classified as sudden death, he added.
Members of the public with information about the incident have been urged to assist the police investigation and refrain from making statements or speculating about the case out of respect for the victim’s family.
