The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning involving heavy rain and strong winds across 10 states and Putrajaya until 6pm today.
In a statement, MetMalaysia said the affected states are Kedah, Penang, Perak, Terengganu, Pahang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Sarawak and Sabah.
In Kedah, the warning covers Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu, while the entire state of Penang is also placed under the alert zone.
Severe weather is also expected in parts of Perak, including Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, as well as several districts in Terengganu such as Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman.
For Pahang, the affected areas include Raub, Bentong and Kuantan, while in Selangor, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang are also on alert.
MetMalaysia added that in Negeri Sembilan, Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah and Jempol are expected to be affected, while in Johor the warning covers Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru.
In East Malaysia, Sarawak’s Miri division including Subis and Marudi is affected, while in Sabah the alert covers Beaufort, Tambunan, Beluran and Kota Marudu.
