MetMalaysia Issues Thunderstorm Warning For Several States Until 9pm

Jabatan Meteorologi Malaysia (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning following forecasts of heavy rain expected to affect several areas in Pahang, Sarawak and Sabah until 9pm today.

In a statement, MetMalaysia said affected areas in Pahang include Bentong, Temerloh, Maran, Bera, Pekan and Rompin.

It said heavy rain is also expected in Sarawak involving Kuching (Bau and Lundu), Miri (Marudi) and Limbang.

In Sabah, the warning covers the west coast (Ranau and Kota Belud), Sandakan (Telupid, Beluran and Sandakan) and Kudat (Kota Marudu and Pitas).

MetMalaysia explained that a thunderstorm warning is issued when there are signs of intense rainfall exceeding 20 millimetres per hour, expected to occur or persist for more than an hour.

It added that the warning is short-term in nature and is valid for up to six hours for each issuance.
