Motorcyclist Killed After Losing Control, Crashing Into River

Date:

A 31-year-old motorcyclist died after losing control of his motorcycle and plunging into a river along Jalan Johor Bahru-Ayer Hitam on Saturday morning.

Kulai district police chief Assistant Commissioner Tan Seng Lee said the accident occurred at about 9.35am at KM25 of the road, in the direction of Johor Bahru.

Initial investigations found that the victim was travelling from Kulai towards Johor Bahru when he lost control of his motorcycle while passing through the area.

“The motorcycle veered off the road and crashed onto the left shoulder before the victim fell into the river,” he said in a statement.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene following the incident. His body and motorcycle were later retrieved from the river by firefighters.

Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

The authorities have reminded road users to remain vigilant, particularly along stretches where a loss of control could result in vehicles leaving the roadway and causing serious consequences.
