A motorcyclist was found dead by members of the public about two hours after he was believed to have lost control and crashed at Jalan Air Tanai, Air Paabas, early this morning.
The victim, identified as Abd Rahim Yusuf, 38, was believed to have been involved in the accident at around 5am, but the incident was only discovered by passers-by at about 7am before police were notified.
The victim, who lived in Kampung Air Tanah, was reportedly travelling out from his home to meet a friend when the crash occurred.
Alor Gajah district police chief Superintendent Ahmad Abu Bakar said initial investigations found that the victim was riding a Modenas Kriss motorcycle from Kampung Air Tanai towards Jalan Air Paabas.
“Upon reaching the location, the rider is believed to have lost control of the motorcycle before skidding onto the left side of the road.
“The victim, who was unmarried, was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe head injuries,” he said in a statement today.
The victim’s body was sent to the Forensic Unit at Alor Gajah Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
